Emily Ward, LMSW
Hi, I’m Emily. I work with adults who are dealing with anxiety, mood challenges, trauma, and difficult life transitions. Many of the people I support have experienced domestic or sexual violence, and I approach therapy with a strong focus on creating safety, trust, and a sense that you don’t have to carry things alone.
My style is warm, supportive, and collaborative, while also being practical and grounded. I use a trauma-informed approach and draw from CBT and DBT to help clients build tools for managing emotions, coping with stress, and navigating relationships, alongside deeper work around understanding patterns and experiences that continue to show up in the present.
I earned my MSW from Columbia University and previously worked in a public hospital setting, supporting people facing complex challenges including homelessness, legal system involvement, and immigration-related stress. These experiences shape my belief that therapy has to be flexible, realistic, and responsive to what’s actually happening in your life.
Outside of therapy, I enjoy running, taking long walks, and spending time with my two cats.
